Fellow Shooters
Friday, January 27th, 2012Hope all of you are enjoying the winter as much as I am. The weather has been pretty kind to us in Indiana and Iowa. Shooting winter leagues in trap and skeet have actually been quite pleasant; we are usually prepared for cold, blustery Saturday mornings. I’m sure the real winter weather is just lurking around the corner. It actually has been decent enough for me to get out to the rifle range a couple of times and do some load tweaking.
Many of us at Sinclair and Brownells just got back from the SHOT Show, the main industry trade show, in Las Vegas and enjoyed spending time with some of our key suppliers and partners. We also were able to meet many of the competitive shooters who utilize our products – some were actually on the way to winter matches in the Southwest.
I know from the calls coming in that many of you are taking advantage of the winter to get caught up on reloading. If you are doing any case weighing/sorting and need a good scale, we have the large Sartorious scale on sale right now. This scale is one of my personal favorites because I can depend on it every time I use it. It also has a full two-year manufacturer’s warranty – you don’t see many electronic manufacturers providing that kind of warranty. That tells you a little bit about its durability and quality.
There are more shooters every day getting into reloading for the first time. If you know someone at your local club who is thinking about getting into reloading, consider inviting that person over and showing him (or her!) how easy and relaxing reloading is to do. Many shooters are interested in reloading, but there is always a little bit of trepidation about starting and getting over that learning hump. This is one hobby where it really helps to have a mentor to get you started. I know I have already had a couple of guys come by my house this winter to observe how the components are prepped and assembled. I think just understanding how to use a reloading manual is a benefit. Make sure you tell them to take advantage of our technical staff, who will be glad to help them every step of the way. I can’t say enough about how knowledgeable our tech staff is, and how many thousands of people they have helped with reloading processes or in just determining what tools they need from all the choices in the marketplace.
Hope your winter is going well and we’ll see you next month.
