Redding Dual Ring Sizing Dies for Pistol Cartridges
In 2011 Redding came out with a new type of carbide sizing die for straight wall pistol cartridges, the “Dual Ring” sizing die. This die uses two carbide rings of different diameters to size the cartridge case. The upper ring sizes only the bullet retention portion of the case, and the lower ring sizes the cartridge case body without over working your brass! The result is a reload that looks like it came from the factory.
Remember how your .45 ACP reloads look? With a conventional sizing die with one sizing ring you often get the bulge where the bullet was seated into the case. It looks bad, and we get calls every day on this from new reloaders questioning their die quality or set up. Not so with the Redding dual ring die! Your reloads will have no “bulge” at all! Just a nice, good looking, straight, loaded cartridge. We have tested this die on our single stage Redding Big Boss 2 press and in our Hornady AP Lock-n-Load progressive press, and it works great in both. The cartridges rounds go through our Wilson .45 ACP maximum cartridge case guage (W45AG) like butter, so we know they’re going to chamber every time in our 1911s. This is a real confidence builder when you’re standing on the ready line at a USPSA, IDPA, or 3-Gun match.
Redding hasn’t forgotten wheelgunners either. The dual ring die also comes in .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, .45 Colt, and – new for 2012 - .38 Special and the .44 Special. Why bring out two dies for .44 and .38/357? Because of the way these dies work, they have to be caliber specific due to the two sizing rings. It’s not like the old days when you could just adjust the depth of the die in the threads to compensate for the case length differences between .38 Special and .357 Magnum or .44 Special and .44 Magnum. Almost forgot: Redding also makes the dual ring sizing die for you .40 S&W guys too, so get one to go along with your Redding G-RX push-through-base sizing die to win your “battle of the bulge”!
Here is the list of the Sinclair part numbers for Redding dual ring dies:
749-012-665 = .357 Magnum
749-012-666 = .40 S&W
749-012-667 = .44 Magnum
749-012-668 = .45 ACP
749-012-669 = .45 Colt
And the Sinclair part numbers for Redding G-RX Push Through Base Sizing Dies:
75-96150 = Carbide sizing die (.40 S&W)
75-96040 = Steel sizing die (.40 S&W)
75-96010 = Optional bottle adapter

Redding says that the G-RX dies will also work for the .357 SIG !
